YEREVAN. – Azerbaijan should not feel military superiority, and in this terms convergence between Russia and Azerbaijan in defense area should not be exaggerated, Russian military expert Vladimir Yevseyev said.

Moscow has provided a $200 million loan to Armenia to purchase modern weaponry, Yevseyev said during a space bridge on Armenia-Russia relations.

“New escalation has started in September. As a military expert, I do not like it. We are going for an increase in the level of used weapons. We see that people are dying beyond  frontline, the conflict is growing,” he said, adding that Russia stands for normalization.

The expert added that heavy weapons should be taken back for certain distance.

“Russian loan provides an opportunity to renew balance of power. The terms for negotiations will become better. If there is balance at the line of contact, it is possible to hold talks about withdrawal of heavy weapons,” he added.
