Armenia is ranked 43rd among 96 countries in the Global Watch Age Index 2015.

According to the report, people aged over 60 will make 23.8 % of entire Armenia's population by 2030.

Armenia ranks relatively high in the capability domain (9) with one of the highest employment rates (61.7%) in the region and above average educational attainment (83.7%) amongst older people.

However, Armenia ranks low in the health domain (74) with below average life expectancy, but high psychological wellbeing for the region, and the lowest in the enabling environment domain showing below regional average values for three of the indicators: social connectedness (63%), civic freedom (42%) and satisfaction with transport (54%).

The Index highlights which countries are doing best for their older populations and how this links with policies towards pensions, health, education, employment and the social environment in which older people live.

Georgia is ranked 29th and Turkey 75th, while Iran and Azerbaijan are not included in the list.

Globally Switzerland tops the 2015 Index this year, while Afghanistan remains in bottom place.
