The aggravation of the situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan leads to the destabilization of the entire region.
President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan announced the above-said at Tuesday’s meeting of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), in Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan.
Sargsyan stressed that the presidents of CSTO member countries met within a narrow format, and conferred on several acute matters.
“I informed the leaders of the CSTO member states about the situation in the South Caucasus focusing on the threat of escalation of tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the Karabakh-Azerbaijani line of contact,” said the Armenian President. “In the absence of an appropriate reaction by the international community, the Azerbaijani attempts at escalating the tension are fraught with the risk of destabilization of the situation throughout the region.”
