Armenia’s membership in the Horizon 2020 Programme for Research and Innovation of the European Union is very important.

Minister of Education and Science of Armenia, Armen Ashotyan, who is in Brussels on a working visit, noted the abovementioned at his talk Monday with the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas.

The European commissioner pointed to the history of Armenian scholars and research centers, and the rich legacy they have left.

Ashotyan, for his part, presented the ongoing reforms in education and science, primary directions of respective development, existing possibilities, and main challenges in Armenia. The minister also greatly underscored the Armenia-based scientific community’s full integration into the global scientific community.

At the ensuing talk, the interlocutors conferred on the avenues for Armenia’s participation in the Horizon 2020 Programme and assistance to the Armenian Studies’ centers in Europe, and several other matters of bilateral interest.
