YEREVAN. - Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan today received the delegation of the Czech Republic headed by Senate Deputy President Zdeněk Škromach.

Welcoming the guest, the President praised Zdeněk Škromach’s personal contribution to the strengthening of the Armenian-Czech friendship. Sargsyan thanked him, as well as all the members of the parliamentary delegation who attended the Armenian Genocide Centennial Commemoration events in Yerevan on April 24 of the current year. He also thanked the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Parliament for passing the resolution on the Armenian Genocide.

Armenia’s President expressed hope that the visit of the Czech Republic Senate Deputy President will be a new impetus for making the relations between the Armenian and Czech people warmer, as well as intensifying the inter-parliamentary ties.

Zdeněk Škromach said it was a great honor for him and the Czech MPs to have visited Armenian on occasion of the Armenian Genocide Centennial. He expressed confidence that the cooperation between the two stated will continue to strengthen on presidential, parliamentary and governmental levels.

At the meeting, the interlocutors also touched on the possibilities of developing Armenian-Czech trade and economic cooperation, process of constitutional amendments in Armenia, as well as regional issues and challenges, including the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
