Scandal is flaring up in U.S. with regard to the decision of the House Ethics Committee not to release findings of the investigation on whether Azerbaijan paid for the trips of lawmakers to Baku.

Pressure on the Committee members is mounting, rollcall.com reports.

According to the attorney Leo Wise, the findings might reveal the committee’s own failure to check the nonprofit organizations which paid for the foreign travel.

Some experts fear the committee “may be trying to bury” the case, which involves nine Congressmen — six Democrats and three Republicans.

The House set up the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) to ensure an independent review of alleged ethics violations, but the committee “tried stepping in late, once the investigation was in full fruition.”

The decision to withhold the publication of findings may have violated the House rules.
