YEREVAN. - The newly appointed Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia Piotr Switalski has extended his credentials to Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan today.

The President congratulated the Ambassador on assuming the office, wishing him success. He also stressed that the cooperation with the EU has and continues to be one of the primary directions of Armenia’s foreign policy since the country’s independence.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction that the Armenian-EU relations are developing dynamically, which is indicative of bilateral political will and commitment.

Sargsyan said that Armenia is definitively going to continue the large-scale reforms, in which the EU plays a great role through its continuous support. Sargsyan also attached importance to the work of the EU Delegation in the development of the Armenian-EU relations.

In his turn, Ambassador Switalski assured that he’ll do his best with his team to continue the efforts based on the work implemented so far, taking the Armenian-EU relations to a qualitatively new level.

The Ambassador stressed that Armenia is an important partner for the EU not only because it is included in the EU Neighborhood Policy, but also due to the fact that the country is part of the larger European region, as well as because Armenians seriously contributed to the European history and civilization for decades and share common values.  

Sargsyan and Switalski attached importance to the initiative of revising and updating the European Neighborhood Policy.
