The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Linas Linkevičius, congratulated the Armenian nation on its Independence Day anniversary.  

“Happy Independence Day, Armenia!” Linkevičius tweeted, in both English and Armenian. 

The Republic of Armenia on Monday marks the 24th anniversary of its independence. A referendum on Armenia’s secession from the ex-USSR and the establishment of an independent state was conducted on September 21, 1991. As a result, 94.99 percent of the country’s citizens voted “for” independence.
