YEREVAN. – Armenia can record a double-digit economic growth.

“Alternative” Research Center Director, economist Tatul Manaseryan, said the abovementioned at a press conference on Wednesday.

He noted the respective positive trend in the country’s agriculture sector.

“The data for the first six months alone are quite encouraging,” stated Manaseryan. “I see at least the first steps in organizing exports to the traditional markets [i.e. Russia, which is a huge market not just for Armenia, but for the US and Europe]”.

The economist stressed that a twofold growth is recorded in the exports of Armenian agricultural products to Russia.

“It is gratifying; but for me, as an economist, dependence on just one market is unacceptable,” argued the expert. “We [i.e. Armenia] need to be able to go out to other markets; the European market is also very important to me.”

Tatul Manaseryan added that Armenia has great achievements in winemaking, too.

“I can definitely say that Armenia has a future in this domain,” concluded the economist.
