YEREVAN. – At its meeting on Saturday, the Armenian State Commission on Coordination of the events dedicated to the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will reflect on President Serzh Sargsyan’s idea of setting up a Pan-Armenian Council, which will comprise representatives from Armenia and the Armenian diaspora.
Presidential Chief of Staff Vigen Sargsyan, who is also coordinator of the aforesaid state commission, on Friday noted the abovementioned at the experts’ forum entitled “I remember and demand,” and which is convened within the framework of the Armenian Genocide Centennial commemoration events.
Sargsyan also stated that the two resolutions, which the UN has adopted at Armenia’s initiative—and which refer not solely to the Armenian Genocide, but also to genocide prevention and condemnation—, show that Armenia is taking on, in a stable manner, the role of the international community’s leader in the fight against genocide.
