Representatives of Armenia and Georgia signed a number of agreements Friday on the implementation of territorial cooperation programs in the framework of the Eastern Partnership.

During the program implementation, project proposal competition was held, in which eight winners were selected from Armenian and Georgian sides, who signed the agreement on cooperation.

The winning projects are aimed at developing joint measures for the solution of socio-economic issues in the border regions of Armenian and Georgia. The EU allocated EUR 1,35 million for the territorial cooperation program between Armenia and Georgia, Georgia On-line reports. 

“The present program enables our countries to solve common issues related to the border regions. The Georgian government attaches great importance to the cooperation in the Eastern Partnership format and strives towards its deepening, including in the framework of this program,” Giorgi Tsakadze, head of the Department for Development of Self-Government and Regional Policy said.

He also noted that despite certain differences, being together under the auspices of the EU they are trying to give an additional positive impulse and dynamics to the mutual relations between the two countries. According to Tsakadze, this circumstance is the strongest aspect of the joint Armenian-Georgian program.
