YEREVAN. – The Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has carried out certain activities. But it is not solely through them will we be able to ensure resolutions and statements that are advantageous for us in this platform. 

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Koryun Nahapetyan, who is also Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs, told the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am. He noted this reflecting on the two anti-Armenian draft resolutions to be considered at the PACE plenary session in January 2016.

These draft resolutions are PACE MP Robert Walter’s (UK) report entitled “Escalation of Violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and Other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan,” and PACE MP Milica Marković’s (Bosnia and Herzegovina) report about Sarsang Reservoir in Nagorno-Karabakh, and entitled “Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water.”

“There are parliamentary delegations and political groups from a variety of countries that have their interests, priorities, concerning their relations with this or that state,” Nahapetyan said. “Of course, there might also be manifestations of corruption. On this part, we also have certain data about separate figures represented in PACE, which [i.e. the data] need to be checked. I mean the connections they have with various Azerbaijani organizations.”

The RPA deputy also underscored the need to intensify the PACE Armenia delegation’s activities in this platform.
