Analysts at Health Effects Institute, a Boston-based nonprofit organization, have come to the conclusion that 5.5 million people die early from air pollution worldwide.
More than half of these deaths were recorded in China and India.
In China, burning coal is the biggest contributor to air pollution. Outdoor air pollution from coal alone caused an estimated 366,000 deaths in this country in 2013.
In India, poor air quality is mainly the result of burning wood, dung, and other organic materials for cooking and heating, reported Informing.ru.
According to researchers, to solve this problem, it is indispensable to considerably reduce the number of factories that release harmful substances into the atmosphere; and this matter should be resolved at state level.
The analysts warn that if measures are not taken, air-pollution-caused early deaths may increase.
