YEREVAN. – The Defense Minister of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, on Wednesday received US Ambassador Richard Mills.

They conferred on the large-scale attacks which Azerbaijan unleashed in recent days against the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh), and the present situation along the Line of Contact between the Karabakh and Azerbaijani opposing forces, informed the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.

The Armenian minister presented to the American ambassador the main peculiarities of Azerbaijan’s overt aggression against the Armenian side, and noted that the latter will see to it that an internationally accepted legal assessment is given to these crimes by the Azerbaijani side.

The imperative of active mediation efforts, strengthening the current ceasefire arrangement with a written agreement, and establishing confidence-building mechanisms was underscored yet again as a precondition for weakening the armed confrontation over the Karabakh conflict.
