Pope Francis will travel to the Greek island of Lesbos on Saturday. The trip is carried out at the invitation of Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos. On his behalf, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will meet the Pope.

The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His Holiness Bartholomew I, and the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Ieronymos II will join the pontiff. They will travel by bus to refugee camp Moria that hosts around three thousand people live. Upon his arrival, the Pope welcomed 150 young residents of the camp, and then 250 who gathered in a large tent used for the registration of visitors.

After lunch with the eight refugees, Pope Francis will travel to the port of Mytilene and meet with citizens and with a small Catholic community, TASS reported.

It is expected that the leaders of the Roman Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church of the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Greek Orthodox Church will sign a joint declaration on the ecumenical commitment in the humanitarian area.
