Turkish Minister of European Union Affairs Volkan Bozkir stated that they are losing hopes for a visa-free regime for Turkish citizens, BBC reported.

According to the results of his meetings with European colleagues in Strasbourg, the minister said that the negotiations on this issue have reached a crucial phase.

According to Bozkir, Turkey did enough so that the agreement on visa-free regime could be signed.

But the EU insists that Turkey has to amend its anti-terrorism legislation, narrowing the definition of terrorism.

Minister Bozkir insists that changing anti-terror laws in Turkey would be impossible, BBC Russian Service reported.

Last week, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned the EU that Ankara would not change its anti-terror laws.

"We'll go our way, you go yours," he said.

The decision on visa-free travel regime is the part of the agreement concluded between Turkey and the EU in March and is directed to solution of the migration crisis in Europe. The parties should resolve this issue till June, and with each passing day it becomes less probable.

Earlier this month the European Union said that the majority of the 72 conditions had been fulfilled by Turkey. But the European Parliament is refusing to vote until all the criteria are met.
