YEREVAN. – Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian on Thursday met in Paris with Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development of France.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the two FMs had an informative talk on bilateral cooperation.

Nalbandian and Ayrault recorded that Armenian-French bilateral relations are at high level, and reflected on the avenues for further development and expansion of economic collaboration.

They also spoke about cooperation within the frame work of the International Organisation of La Francophonie.

But the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process was the key issue in the talk. In this connection, FM Nalbandian briefed his French colleague on the present-day situation as a result of the Azerbaijani aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh in early April. He underscored the consistent efforts, together with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group Co-Chair countries (Russia, US, and France), to prevent what had occurred and to settle the problem through peace.

The interlocutors shared the view that the use of force is unacceptable, and that there is no alternative to a negotiated settlement.

The Armenian FM reaffirmed that when respective conditions are created, Armenia will continue working, together with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries, toward resolving the Karabakh conflict through negotiations.

Also, Edward Nalbandian invited Jean-Marc Ayrault to Armenia for a visit.
