People who believe in conspiracy theories are more likely to be suffering from stress. The American psychologists stated that 420 participants— 225 women and 195 men – from the ages of 20 and 78 were recruited .

The participants of the experiment estimated on a scale from 1 to 10 the credibility of the various conspiracy theories, such as about the landing of men on the moon, or the murder of Martin Luther King. As it turned out, the more stressful events they had experienced in the previous six months, the higher their general levels of stress was in the previous month.

Women and men often believe in conspiracy theories. The young participants considered such theories as more plausible than those who were older.

The social status had no effect on the faith, MED Daily reported.
