Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian’s official visit to Indonesia kicked off Tuesday with his talk with his Indonesian colleague, Retno Marsudi.

They discussed the avenues for the development of bilateral relations as well as current regional and international matters. 

The Armenian FM noted that his visit to capital city Jakarta aims to further develop friendly relations with Indonesia. Nalbandian stressed that progress has been achieved in bilateral relations, ever since his previous visit to Indonesia. 

The two ministers underscored the need to hold regular consultations between their ministries. Also, they expressed satisfaction with the establishment of direct ties between the educational institutions of the two ministries.

Edward Nalbandian briefed his Indonesian associate on the ongoing efforts by Armenia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group co-chair countries (Russia, US, and France) to push forward the Nagorno Karabakh peace process.

In addition, the Armenian FM invited the Indonesian FM for a visit to Armenia.

At the end of the talk, Edward Nalbandian and Retno Marsudi signed an agreement on lifting visa requirements for the Armenian and Indonesian citizens who hold diplomatic and service passports, and a memorandum of cooperation between the two foreign ministries.

In addition, Nalbandian and Muhammad Nasir, the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Indonesia, signed a memorandum of intent regarding cooperation in these domains.
