YEREVAN. – “Black clouds” are hanging over the heads of some “technocrat” ministers that have moved from business to the executive branch of power in Armenia, together with Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, according to Zhamanak newspaper.

“At this moment, the presidential [office] has serious concerns over Health Minister Levon Altunyan, Agriculture Minister Ignati Arakelyan, and Transport, Communication [and Information Technology] Minister Vahan Martirosyan.

“Levon Altunyan, for example, ensures state order for his own hospital. Vahan Martirosyan creates preferential conditions for Rostelecom [telecommunication service company]. The solutions, which Ignati Arakelyan proposed, require long-term and huge investments whose capacity our country does not possess.

“Karen Karapetyan is against the campaign launched against his people. He submitted to the presidential [office] his list of the undesirables. The Prime Minister is dissatisfied with the work of [Nature Protection Minister] Artsvik Minasyan, [Justice Minister] Arpine Hovhannisyan, and [Labor and Social Affairs Minister] Artem Asatryan, who were actually imposed on him.

“At this moment, all [these] six [ministers] retain their positions on the account of tense compromise,” wrote Zhamanak.
