The European Court of Human Rights published a verdict on the claim of the Azerbaijani oppositionists: Ilham Huseynov, Tazakhan Miralamli, Bahruz Hasanov, Tofig Dadashova, Tyurkel Alisoy, and Aghaverdi Rushanov, reports contact.az.
The attorney of the plaintiffs Asabali Mustafayev filed a claim on illegal detention, violations of rights to freedom of assembly, and judicial violations. The Court ruled, that the rights of the plaintiffs were breached and obliged the authorities to pay 12.000 EUR as a compensation and 6000 EUR for trial costs. Thus, the total amount of penalty imposed on the government of Azerbaijan makes 72000 euros. However, the ECHR has reduced the amount of payment for legal services, and impose a fine of 500 euros for each case.
