YEREVAN. - If the right to chair the Organization of the Legal and Political Affairs Committee of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) Parliamentary Assembly (PA) has been given to an Azerbaijani delegate, this doesn’t mean that arbitrary approach should be manifested or that they should advance their own interests.

Secretary of Prosperous Armenia parliamentary faction, Vahe Enfiajyan, said the aforementioned at a press-conference Monday.

Referring to the scandal in the framework of the 48th plenary session of the BSEC PA, the MP noted that during the fall sessions of the BSEC PA Legal and Political Affairs Committee, the Armenian delegation prepared two reports.

“We presented the Armenian market, its legislative field, climate for possible economic investments and [overall] the country as a stable republic, comparing it to other BSEC member-states in terms of terror threat. During the discussion of terrorist and religious issues in the region, the Azerbaijani delegation noted in their report that Azerbaijan has lost its territories for already 25 years, thereby actually accusing the Armenian side. Apparently, we registered to raise the issue and give a relevant answer. But the Secretary General and the Committee Chairman, who were Azerbaijani representatives, didn’t give us an opportunity to speak and adequately respond,” Enfiajyan noted.

According to the MP, he was able to speak the next day, already during the session of the BSEC Committee on Social Affairs. “But during my entire speech, both the Azerbaijani Chairman of the Committee and the Azerbaijani delegate periodically interrupted me, trying to distort the reality. Nevertheless, I raised the issue on 1988 pogroms in Sumgait, presented the actions carried out by Ramil Safarov, as well as the recent events in April 2016. Very short time was given for this, but the delegates of eleven countries characterized the actions of the Azerbaijani side as unacceptable,” Enfiajyan concluded.

In December, the 48th session of the BSEC Parliamentary Assembly took place in Belgrade in the framework of the Chairmanship of Serbia in BSEC.
