In 2020, Armenia’s profits from the tourism industry should reach $2.5 billion per year.
Minister of Economic Development and Investment, Suren Karayan, told the abovementioned to reporters. He noted this based on the results of the President Serzh Sargsyan-led consultation, which was convened in Jermuk town.

He added that the number of tourists visiting Armenia shall be doubled within three years.
Karayan stated that, at present, around 1, 200,000 tourists visit the country every year.
Given that each tourist spends an average of $1,000 in Armenia, the country’s authorities expect the aforesaid $2.5 billion.
To note, Armenia’s minimum GDP for 2017 is projected to be Armenian drams equivalent to approximately $11.2 billion, at the current exchange rate.
