A 12-year old German-Iraqi boy tried to detonate a bomb at a Christmas market in the western town of Ludwigshafen, Business Insider reported.

According to the newspaper, the boy was “strongly radicalized” and apparently instructed by an unknown member of the Islamic State.

The explosion did not occur only because detonator did not work. The child carried a self-made bomb in a backpack, after unsuccessful attempts, he hid the backpack in bushes where it was found by passersby who called the police. The suspect is transferred to an orphanage. An investigation under the article the “serious crime threatening national security”  is underway. It is known that the child previously expressed a desire to go to Syria and fight on the side of the Islamists.
