German armed forces practically do not have ammunition for some types of weapons,  Lenta reported quoting Die Welt.

According to the newspaper, during the Cold War regulations instructed to have ammunition for 30 days of fighting in warehouses. Now, however, the reserves of ammunition for some weapons remained only for several days of application.

In this regard, in 2017 the Bundeswehr intends to purchase 25 million 5.56 millimeter caliber cartridges for G36 automatic rifles and MG4 machine guns, which will be distributed in six warehouses. Armed Forces confirmed this information, without disclosing the procurement value. At the same time it was noted that the ammunition must contain a minimum quantity of hazardous substances to be safe for the environment.
