U.S. President Donald Trump posted a photo of handshake with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on his Facebook.

“Honored to welcome Chancellor Merkel to the White House today. Our two nations share much in common, and our alliance is a symbol of strength to the world,” the inscription reads.

According to CNN, Trump did not shake Merkel’s hand in the Oval Office despite journalists’ requests.

A handshake of two leaders in the Oval Office is a tradition. It is not clear whether it happened because Trump did not want to or did not hear the request.

Nevertheless, Trump and Merkel shook hands when Chancellor arrived at the White House and following the media briefing.
