The FBI will create a special unit to coordinate the investigation of the Russian intervention in the US elections, The Financial Times.
According to the source, this step is an evidence of how serious the FBI approaches to the accusations brought against Russia. According to the source, the new unit will allow the FBI director James Komi to better orient in the stream of the fragmented information.
The new department will start the work next week. FBI investigators will also examine the possibility of initiating criminal cases against Russia for alleged interference into the US election campaign. However, some investigators believe, that it will be difficult because of the complications of obtaining evidences from Russia.
“Unlike the CIA, we have to bring things that go, potentially, in front of a jury,” said an FBI agent . “We have to certify evidence. A place like Russia is such a black hole. It's so hard to prove you're bringing evidence that hasn't been tampered with.”
