The parliament of Hungary passed a law, tightening rules for foreign universities. The law obliges the foreign educational institutions to have educational platforms in the countries they are registered, reports BBC.

In fact, the bill puts under threat the existence of only one institution, the European Central University (CEU), which was established and has been financed by the philanthropist George Soros. CEU is registered in the United States but has not institution there.

The new law also provides that foreign universities can grant scholarships in Hungary only after signing preliminary agreements with the countries they are registered in. On the weekend, several thousand-people joined the protest against the project.
