OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Miklos Haraszti on September 7-11 intends to discuss the freedom of speech in Baku. Within the framework of the visit Haraszti will meet with Azeri officials, OSCE member-states’ Ambassadors to Baku and NGO representatives.

NEWS.am reported earlier that Matthew Bryza, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, OSCE Co-Chair, during his visit to Baku expressed concern about termination of western radio-broadcasting in Azerbaijan as well as the bloggers’ arrest. “We have put the points before the President Ilham Aliyev and suppose this problem should be solved within the frames of Azerbaijani citizens rights’ protection and give an incentive to provision of the freedom of speech principles,” Bryza said.
