North Korea claims that it has successfully tested a Hwasong -15 ballistic missile capable of hitting targets throughout the United States, RIA Novosti reported citing North Korean television.

Pyongyang said that the test did not affect the security of neighboring states.

“The test launch of the missile did not have any negative impact on the security of neighboring countries,” the communique said.

It is noted that the test was attended by the leader Kim Jong-un, who “gave high assessment”, saying that the historical success in completing the state's nuclear arsenal has been achieved.

Pentagon said it believed it was an intercontinental ballistic missile that flew for about 1,000km (620 miles) and fell into the Sea of Japan. U.S. President Donald Trump said that the launch of the missile did not change the US approach to the North Korean issue, and his country will cope with this situation.
