YEREVAN. – A joint summary document was adopted Wednesday, as a result of the Seventeenth Meeting of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.

Committee co-chair Armen Ashotyan—who is also Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia—told reporters at the NA that the final document refers not solely to the present, but it also points to the priorities for development.

“We succeeded in giving substance to the CEPA [(Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement)],” Ashotyan noted, in particular. “I believe we succeeded in ensuring CEPA’s first enforcement, in this very hall.”

He added that the aforesaid meeting was historic.

In turn, committee co-chair Sajjad Karim, a Member of the European Parliament, stressed that relations have improved and developed not solely between Armenia and the EU, but also among the parliaments, and that the both of them play a vital part in further deepening of relations.

Karim added that their objective is to achieve tangible improvements in the lives of all citizens, and that they have called on the Armenian authorities to very clearly present to the public the basis of bilateral relations.
