YEREVAN. – This year was a success in terms of the foreign political activities of Armenia.

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Vice-Chairman Armen Ashotyan, who is also Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly, stated the abovementioned at a press conference on Friday.

In his words, Yerevan succeeded in advancing its main agenda in foreign policy, and in strengthening its positions in the existing international formats.

“The year 2017 became the year of reinforcement of Armenia’s security system, and diplomacy and foreign policy had a great role in this matter,” said Ashotyan.

He added that the reinforcing of the country’s security system was owing to the signing of various agreements with its main ally, Russia.

At the same time, Armen Ashotyan stressed the importance of the development of Armenia’s cooperation with the European Union (EU), and which, in his view, has moved to a new level. He noted that the recent signing of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between Armenia and the EU has played an important part in terms of the foreign policy successes of Armenia and its future economic development.
