This year, Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia will tighten the control over the effective use of groundwater resources in Ararat plain, Armenian Minister of Nature Protection Aram Harutyunyan told the reporters on Tuesday. According to Harutyunyan, an electronic system of issuing water consumption permits will be introduced to ensure transparency in this field.

The minister also referred to problems on planting of greenery in Yerevan, However, Harutyunyan did not specify what areas trees and shrubs will be planted in.

“This year we should develop a concrete program and make a new statement,” he said. The minister recalled Yerevan City Hall is responsible for green areas of Yerevan. However, the ministry takes every measure to provide assistance to the City Hall, Harutyunan emphasized.
