November 2 marks the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists.

The International Day was established by the resolution of the UN General Assembly in 2013 to draw attention to the low global conviction rate for violent crimes against journalists and media workers, estimated at only one in every ten cases

The date of the UN day marks the death of Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon, two French journalists killed while reporting in Mali on November 2, 2013.
