On 29 March 2019, the Supreme Judicial Council, examining the motions filed by Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia on 29 March 2019 for instituting criminal prosecution against Judge Gagik Heboyan of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of the Kotayk Province of the Republic of Armenia and giving consent to depriving him of liberty during a closed-door session, decided to uphold the motions, reported the press and public relations service of the Supreme Judicial Council, according to NEWS.am.
The Council, guided by part 1 of Article 94 and part 1 of Article 165 of the Constitutional Law “Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia” and point 96 of the Rules of Procedure of the Supreme Judicial Council, also decided to suspend the powers of Judge Gagik Heboyan until the end of the proceedings under the criminal case instituted against him.
