The United States prepared new sanctions against Russia because of the Scripal case, Bloomberg reported quoting two informed sources.

As it was noted, the State and Treasury departments are awaiting the approval of a new package of restrictive measures from the White House, RIA Novosti reported.

In early November 2018, the State Department informed that Russia has not fulfilled the conditions stipulated by the Law on the control of chemical and biological weapons, which was applied in connection with the incident in Salisbury. In this regard, the United States intends to impose the second package of sanctions against Russia. The first package came into force on August 27.

The law provides six options for sanctions for the second package, ordering the president to use at least three of them.

The sanctions would include “banking sanctions, prohibition on procurement of defense articles, aid money -- it’s a laundry list of items that will penalize the Russian government.”

On 4 March 2018, Sergei Skripal, a former Russian military officer and his daughter Yulia Skripal were poisoned in Salisbury.   The incident provoked a major international scandal.
London stated that Russia was involved in the incident, Moscow categorically denied this.

The Russian side repeatedly proposed to conduct a joint investigation of the incident, but Britain ignored it.

The Russian Foreign Ministry caught the British Prime Minister Teresa May in a lie. She claimed that the poison was made in Russia. However, UK’s defence research laboratory announced on Tuesday that they had not established that the nerve agent used to poison Sergei and Yulia Skripal had been made in Russia.

In September, the Metropolitan police issued photos of the novichok poisoning suspects Ruslan Boshirov and Alexander.

However, they told the chief editor of Sputnik and RT, Margarita Simonyan, that they visited Britain for tourist purposes, nothing that they have nothing to do with the Russian special services and Scripal case.
