Do I really want all Armenians of the world to participate in the Armenia’s economic revolution and take part in the country’s development in some way? Of course I do, and this is very important. This is what Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a meeting with members of the Armenian community of Vienna on 29 March, responding to the question on whether the Armenian government’s agenda includes an initiative to have Armenians of the world symbolically, yet compulsorily provide financial assistance to Armenia’s economy.

“Do I think that it has to be compulsory? No, I can never think that it has to be compulsory because the word ‘compulsory’ has a connotative meaning. Armenia has to make reforms and create an atmosphere for people to want to come and sincerely want to support the processes in Armenia with pleasure and in any way,” Pashinyan said, stating that he is against any kind of compulsion.

He also stated that Armenia is the family of all Armenians, and nobody does anything compulsorily in a family. “We have to help each other with whatever we can, and we have to do it with pleasure.”
