The Justice and Development Party, led by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, leads the municipal elections in the country, but it seems to be losing control over Ankara, AP reported referring to the Turkish TRT TV Channel. 

Erdogan’s party won about 47% of the vote, while the opposition received 31% of the vote.

Nevertheless, the opposition won 49.5% of the vote.

According to the publication, Ankara was considered the main field of battleground of these elections that are seen as a test of Erdogan’s popularity amid an economic downturn and rising inflation.

As reported earlier, Turkey held 2019 local elections on Sunday, while two were killed, dozens injured as a result of conflicts during the municipal elections in several provinces in Turkey.
