The European Union will not grant the UK another short delay for Brexit, if the British lawmakers do not ratify the stalled divorce agreement by April 12, stated Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, Reuters reported.

Juncker made this remark after British PM Theresa May announced on Tuesday evening that she would request a second Brexit delay.

“The 12th of April is the ultimate deadline for approval of the Withdrawal Agreement by the House of Commons. If it has not done so by then, no further short extension will be possible.”

According to him, the EU is ready to modernize the proposed plan for new relations between the EU and the UK after Brexit. 

“UK will be affected more than EU because there is no such thing as a ‘managed’ or ‘negotiated no-deal’ and there is no such thing as a ‘no-deal transition’,” he added.

However, Juncker also made it clear that the EU would set strict conditions for the resumption of negotiations with the UK on new trade relations in the case of the worst-case scenario.
