Second President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, who is in custody, is reading English-language books at the detention facility. This is what Kocharyan’s attorney Hayk Alumyan told journalists at the Criminal Court of Appeal of Armenia on 4 April.

The attorney informed that Kocharyan finished reading Francis Fukuyama’s book “Identity” yesterday.

Yesterday, the Penitentiary Service of the Republic of Armenia declared that Robert Kocharyan had been provided with an online book without access to the Internet and without the opportunity to record or take a photo.

Kocharyan is charged under part 1 of Article 300.1 and point 2 of part 4 of Article 311 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia for overthrowing constitutional order and receiving a bribe in particularly large amounts.

On 15 February, the Special Investigation Service announced about the end of preliminary investigation of the criminal case in relation to the events that took place in the city of Yerevan from 1 to 2 March 2008.
