Turkey continues to make payments under its deal with Russia to buy S-400 missile defense systems, said Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, adding that the US had not presented the same terms when it offered to sell Patriot missiles, Reuters reported.

“The S-400 holds an important place in our talks. The United States’ arguments are very wrong. We finished the S-400 process and our payments continue,” Erdogan told reporters, adding that Russia's S-400 deal is more beneficial than the US deal on Patriot.

Earlier, the Turkish Foreign Minister said that it was impossible to cancel the S-400 deal.

He noted that Turkey has proposed to the US that they form a working group to determine that Russian S-400 missile defense systems do not pose a threat to U.S. or NATO military equipment.

“It will not be integrated into the NATO system...therefore we propose the United States to establish a technical working group to make sure that this system will not be a threat - neither to (U.S.) F-35s nor the NATO systems,” Cavusoglu told a panel in the United States.

"Turkey must choose. Does it want to remain a critical partner in the most successful military alliance in history or does it want to risk the security of that partnership by making such reckless decisions that undermine our alliance?" U.S. Vice President Mike Pence said on April 3.
