Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, who is on a working visit to Jordan, took part in the New Energy for the Middle East discussion at the World Economic Forum.
During the discussion, the president touched on energy sources in the modern world, in this context highlighting the importance of respecting the environment and the use of renewable energy. The president also highlighted the importance of using nuclear energy.
Armenia, like many countries, has a very balanced energy portfolio, he said referrimg to a Soviet-are nuclear power plant.
The Armenian president also said that water, as an energy resource, is also very important, and that Armenia is unique in this respect as water is extremely important because in 50-100 years it will be a source of energy
Armen Sarkissian noted the need to use new technologies.
According to him, we cannot ignore nuclear power because we are afraid, and parallel processes are needed - to fight coal, to use oil and gas more correctly, to use renewable energy, nuclear energy, to use new technologies to the maximum.
