Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan is on a visit to the United States of America on the sidelines of the spring meetings of the group of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank for the year 2019.

As reported the news service of the Government of Armenia, according to Armenian News-NEWS.am, on 11 April, the Deputy Prime Minister’s visit began with meetings with Vice-President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller and Executive Director of the World Bank for Armenia Koen Davidse.

During the meeting, the parties highly appreciated the existing cooperation between Armenia and the World Bank and stressed the importance of the recently approved 2019-23 Country Partnership Framework for Armenia strategic document from the perspective of future development of cooperation. The interlocutors touched upon the future steps in the main directions arising from the strategic document, particularly in the infrastructures development sector. In this context, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan presented the main framework of reforms predetermined by the Armenian government and attached importance to continuity of advisory support provided by the World Bank.

The Deputy PM and the World Bank’s officials discussed the course of implementation of the joint programs and exchanged views on the steps required to raise the level of effectiveness of those programs.

Later, Deputy PM Mher Grigoryan met with Vice-President of the International Financial Corporation for Latin America and Caribbean, and Europe and Central Asia Georgina Baker.

The Deputy PM highly appreciated the IFC’s programs in the private sector in Armenia and voiced hope that the IFC will support the development of the capital market in Armenia, assuring that this will help create a more transparent and attractive business climate in the country.
