The Russian Federation has recalled its ambassador to Lithuania Remigijus Motuzas due to threats addressed to him and the personnel of the embassy, reports RIA Novosti, citing the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Yes, the ambassador was recalled for consultations. This is linked to the e-mail delivered to the embassy and containing threats to the ambassador and personnel of the embassy linked to the case of 13 January,” the news agency cited the statement of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry also added that “Motuzas has been granted the status of a special witness in the pre-trial investigation of the case on non-transparent issuance of visas”. “He was inquired yesterday,” the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
