Chair of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security Affairs of the National Assembly, Deputy of the My Step faction Andranik Kocharyan believes the statements that “the events of 27 October 1999 were organized and perpetrated by special Russian services upon the assignment of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin” — sent from certain Armenian media outlets to Azerbaijani media outlets — are nonsensical.

"These are provocations that are aimed at destroying Armenian-Russian relations at a time when the relations are getting better. It will simply be impossible to destroy the strategic relations between Russia and Armenia,” Kocharyan declared during an April 12 press conference.

According to him, his allegations related to the events of 27 October 1999 have always been targeted at second President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan since he still doesn’t understand what Kocharyan and Nairi Hunanyan talked about behind closed doors.

According to the MP, not only he, but also the Armenian authorities have become a target for the dissemination of such information through certain Armenian websites.

The MP of the ruling faction noted that the official Moscow still hasn’t responded to the releases and expressed the opinion that “the official Moscow is able to filter information”.
