YEREVAN.- Speaker of Armenian National Assembly (NA) Ararat Mirzoyan has sent a gratitude letter to the president of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Roberto Fico for making a decision on recognizing the Armenian Genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire, the press service of the National Assembly reported.

"May I, on behalf of the National Assembly of Armenia and on my own behalf, express deep gratitude to the Chamber of Deputies of Italy for making a decision on recognizing the Armenian Genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire.

I am confident that this step of the Chamber of Deputies will make its important contribution to the prevention of such crimes against humanity.

The Chamber of Deputies of Italy once again reaffirmed its commitment to the high universal values that the people of Italy adhere to. ”
