US President Donald Trump said that negotiations are currently underway with the UK to conclude a ‘very substantial’ trade deal, BBC reported.

The bilateral deal, which is planned to be concluded by the UK after leaving the EU, may lead to an increase in trade turnover by “three to four, five times.”

After telephone talks with the newly elected UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Trump announced that the new Prime Minister would be “great."

The UK prime minister and the US president said that they would begin official talks "as soon as possible" after the UK left the EU.

The US president also noted that in the past, trade between the US and the UK was ‘impeded’ by British membership in the EU.

As long as the UK is in the EU, it does not have the right to enter into independent trade deals. Brexit is scheduled for October 31.

According to him, after Brexit, the UK can expect a significant revival of trade relations with the US.
