Over 100 flights were canceled at Hong Kong International Airport amid protests and a citywide strike, FT reported.

According to media reports, over 100 departures and arrivals have been canceled at the airport. Many of the cancellations were by Hong Kong's flag carrier, Cathay Pacific.

On Monday morning, protesters blocked roads and tunnels and interrupted the movement of rail vehicles and buses to force the government to comply with their demands. The organizers of the action plan to prevent residents of the city from getting to work in the business districts of the city.

Critics of the action say that such a large-scale disruption in all areas of business, from restaurants to aviation, will cause great damage to Hong Kong's international reputation, which prides itself on its stability and world-class service. The demands of the protesters remain the same: complete withdrawal of amendments to the bill on extradition and investigations regarding the actions of police during protests.
