This January-August, 5% GDP growth was registered in Azerbaijan, followed by Kyrgyzstan (3.8%) and Tajikistan (1.8%). The GDP was down in the following countries: Belarus (0.5%); Kazakhstan (4.1%); Russia (12.5%) and Armenia (18.4%). No information on the other CIS member-countries is available. On the average, the GDP was down 9% in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) during the period under review.

The industrial output was down in all the CIS member-states: Armenia (11.9%); Belarus (4.6%); Kazakhstan (1.5%); Kyrgyzstan (12.7%); Moldova (24.6%); Russia (14%); Tajikistan (11.4%); Ukraine (29.6%). In Azerbaijan, the industrial output was 0.1% up. No information on Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan is available. On the average, the industrial output was 24% down in the CIS during the period under review.

As regards retail turnover, Tajikistan registered the highest increase, 10%, followed by Azerbaijan (8.4%), Belarus (2.7%), Kyrgyzstan (2.1%) and Armenia (0.3%). The retail turnover was down in the following countries: Russia (4.7%); Kazakhstan (11.2%); Moldova (4.9%); Ukraine (15.9%). No information on Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan is available. On average, the retail turnover was 6% down in the CIS during the period under review, reported the CIS Statistical Committee.
