YEREVAN. – A total of AMD 35.9 billion ($97 million) was allocated to the Armenian Police in 2010 instead of budgeted AMD 23.6 billon ($63 million).

Speaking in the parliament Chief Treasurer Atom Janjughazyan said that funds were mainly allocated to maintaining public order which amounted to AMD 22.6 billion ($60 million). Police received AMD 5.82 billion ($15 million) from extra-budgetary funds mainly at the cost of fines. 

Ministry of Emergency Situations was allocated AMD 5 billion (13 million).

A total of AMD 12.2 billion ($32 million) was allocated to the National Security Service in 2010 with AMD 10 billion ($26 million) directed to measures to ensure national security.
